On episode 8, we discuss scientific computing in education for those outside of
the Computer Science department! In particular, we muse on the technical
skills needed to effectively do research. Apologies for the late post– we
flattened some kinks so it should be quicker delivery next time.

This week Jonathan Ashdown joins us from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute where he is a PhD Candidate in Electrical Engineering.
He is also an instructor of electrical engineering technology at
Hudson Valley Community College. His concentration is in communication systems
and signal processing, and he performs research in the area of ultrasonic
wireless communication through acoustic-electric channels including thick metal
walls. He is also the chair of the Schenectady branch of the IEEE Education
Society.
